As consultants, we may sometimes feel that we need to edit our identities so that we can be visible as scholarly professionals, a practice that may make us less effective student resources. In our workshop, we will provide activities to explore how making our unseen identities visible can increase student confidence, cultural awareness, and academic capital; we will also explore ways to bridge writing centers with other campus programs to enhance the visibility of identities which students and consultants may perceive as undervalued.
